If they did, I think heads would roll.It was a great night for live music as country music artist, Tracy Lawrence came to perform a show at the Gold Strike Casino Resort in Tunica, Mississippi! “It’s good to be back down here in this part of the world with y’all!” said the artist as he had a warm welcome to the stage! It is a real shame the holding company (MGM) doesn't go there undercover and see what is going on. Their computer wasn't working the first day I was there and a notebook was used to chart play. I made reservations for the Poker Room rate and as of this review, I am still having an issue. Wait staff seemed to be hands on the clock. The one restaurant for regular meals was good but daytime service was very lacking. Buffet was usual average like you get in Vegas. The television was the old style while not a big issue the channels were not that clear. The bathroom was nice but I just don't spend that much time in one unless in Mexico. The pillows were foam rubber and as a result of sleeping on these I left with neck pain. My first thought was why would someone go to the trouble of shortsheeting the bed. Besides being overly firm, the bottom sheet only covered about 3/4ths the length of the bed. To begin with the carpet was showing its wear and I refused to walk without socks. Upon arrival check in was smooth and then it was off to my room. It had been a couple of yrs since I last stayed at the Goldstrike and when I learned it was an MGM property I immediately began to visualize upgrades to the scale in Las Vegas. The indoor pool is fine but we especially look forward to relaxing in the large hot tubs! The Gold Strike is also convenient since it's situated right accross the parking lot from the Horseshoe and the Sheraton. It would also be nice if there were an outdoor swimming pool or "plunge pool" as well. Generally, unless we are seated at a slot machine or table game, it seems there's just no where else to sit unless we're dining. The only suggestion we would have for the Gold Strike is that we wish there were bar stools in place at all tables at the Bullion Bar. The lobby is beautiful lot's of brass and marble with a huge floral arrangement in the center. Yes, the TV's are small in the rooms but we don't spend much time in the room anyway. We always enjoy the shows and comps have been most generous. We've had good luck on the slots and the casino with it's high ceiling is very nice reminds us of the casino at the Monte Carlo in Vegas. The buffet is always good and we especially look forward to the Sunday brunch. Tunica is not Vegas but it's certainly the next best thing with the Gold Strike being the nicest property in Tunica. Frankly we don't understand negative reviews about the Gold Strike - as we don't feel such negative reviews are at all justified for this property. We would not dream of staying at any other property as the Gold Strike offers first class accomodations in most every way! The rooms and baths are exceptionally large the beds are comfortable, rooms are clean.
We were there just a few months ago planning to go back next weekend. My husband and I stay at the Gold Strike every time we go to Tunica, which is several times per year.
